Ladybugs are a tree’s hero, believe it or not! Our Tulip trees are being majorly attacked by aphids, leaving the tree defoliated. Aphids put their sucking mouthparts into the tree’s leaves and drain the sugars, leaving the tree with no food and damaged leaves so it can’t make any more food. To combat/fight the aphids we bought 2 packages of ladybugs, each package held 1,500 ladybugs. At dusk we released the ladybugs at the base of the Tulip tree. Ladybugs, or ladybird beetles, help the tree by feeding on the aphids, getting rid of the aphids and saving the tree. Check out the releasing of the ladybugs on Instagram @arborace_treeservice along with all our other ???? Times! As you can see, ladybugs are a beneficial insect.
