My family and I had started out on a hike as the sky was turning orange. Halfway through the hike I started to notice the trees surrounding me. First, I noticed the Chestnut Oaks. “Chestnut oaks or mountain oaks grow and live at the tops of mountains, like this one.” I told my mom. “Yes, Chestnut Oaks do you know live at the top of mountains.” She replied in a kind voice. I then noticed fungus eating the dead trees that had fallen over and the lichen living on other trees I passed. As I was watching the sky turn bright colors I looked at the opposing mountain. The trees on the opposing mountain were turning a golden brown with the sunset. This was an amazing hike.
