Do you know what photosynthesis is?
Photosynthesis is a complex process plants use to make sugar/food for themselves. The photosynthesis equation is : 6H2O + 6C02 + light = 6CH1206 + 602. This equation creates, water H2O + carbon dioxide 6CO2 + sunlight = carbohydrates 6CH1206, which is the plant’s food and oxygen is what makes clean air for us. The C stands for carbon, the H stands for hydrogen, and the O stands for oxygen.
For the process of photosynthesis, the tree needs three things: water, carbon dioxide and light. The water comes from the ground and up through the roots to the leaves in the top of the tree through the xylem. Carbon dioxide comes from the air, and the light comes from the sun. When carbon dioxide comes in from the stomata (pores on the bottom of the leaf) and goes through the process of photosynthesis, clean oxygen is released.
Photosynthesis stands for “light combining” as this is how the process works in its simplest form. Glucose is the food that plants make for themselves. As you can see, photosynthesis is just as important for humans as it is plants. Plants need food and humans need oxygen.
On a final note, photosynthesis is a process in which the plant makes food for itself by absorbing carbon dioxide through the stomata, sucking in water through the the xylem, and in the presence of sunlight, goes through a process that creates glucose (tree food), and any extra glucose (tree food) is taken by the phloem and stored as starches in the root system.
