Ropes and Trees

Don’t put rope around trees as it can severely harm your tree and even kill it. You may know ropes can harm trees, but don’t know how. If you tie a rope around your tree, your tree will grow and eventually cut into the cambium layer of the tree, damaging it. The cambium layer is the most important because it holds the xylem and phloem, which is a tree’s transportation system for food and water. Ropes will also scrape and cut a tree’s bark leaving them exposed to diseases and pests.
If you are ever putting a rope on your tree it is important to do the actions needed to prevent the tree from being severely damaged. To prevent your tree from being damaged by rope you could use the rubber hose pad method. You may also use a tree strap which is thick so your tree will not be injured. Another action you could take is putting padding/a blanket to disperse the pressure of the rope and protect the tree with a thick layer in between. If you have to put your dog outside don’t tie your dog to a tree,as it is best to not even put rope on/around trees. If you do put rope around your tree, make the rope wider as the tree continues to grow.
After reading all of this you may be wondering what to do if you find your tree has grown over the rope. If you find a tree has grown over the road remove the leftover/dangling rope with really sharp clippers or even shears! Once this action has been taken remove any other rope around/circling the tree. Then I suggest calling an arborist/Arbor Ace Tree Service to come take a look/cut down the tree. All in all ropes are severely harmful to trees.
