Removal of a large and partially
uprooted Oak Tree.
A large Oak tree was actively leaning towards a house in Kearny. Knowing the urgency of the situation we immediately mobilized two 65 meter ton Palfinger grapple saw crane trucks as this would be the quickest and safest option to safely remove the compromised tree. The tree had started to uproot and was leaning towards the house creating a potentially extremely hazardous situation.
Upon arrival since we would be working through the night we set up scene lighting and coned off the work area. Once the work area was secure we staged the equipment and began the task of setting up the two Palfinger cranes which was a project in itself as we were working on a slope and had to level the cranes out with cribbing. Plywood and outrigger pads were installed under the cranes stabilizers to protect the property. After the cranes were set up they were used in conjunction with one another to safely and strategically dismantle the tree.
The removal process went as follows: both cranes simultaneously removed the limbs from the tree. Once all limbs had been removed and we were left with the trunk one crane would stabilize the trunk while the other removed pieces with the grapple saw. This was repeated until the tree was on the ground.
The tree parts landed in the road and were processed as we went in order to keep the road clear as well as to be able to put the next piece down in the road. The brush was chipped and the logs were loaded into a hook lift truck and brought to a green waste recycling facility.
